With permission from Sophie Bowness to draw on Barbara Hepworth: Writings & Conversations, this research and development project is centred on Barbara Hepworth’s practice, using her own words as a primary means of entering her “world of ideas.” Through her reflections on form, space, material, and abstraction, the project seeks to engage directly with the thinking that underpinned her sculptural work.
Through storytelling and movement, I am exploring the relationship between sculpture and theatre, asking how sculpture, form, landscape, and the natural world might be experienced through the perspective of one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century.
This space is to explore how words, emotions and image land in our bodies.
To peel back the layers of life and see deeply into ourselves and our collective embodiment.
